MICHAEL HOUSE
Supporting the homeless since 1992.
Michael House is more than just a homeless hostel. “It’s a home and our mission has always been to help anyone vulnerable.” They are a dry house (drug and alcohol-free environment) offering supported accommodation to all genders.
-  They provide emergency and longer-term accommodation to homeless people and provide related day services.
-  They provide encouragement, advice and support to clients in an environment which enables them to gain a greater sense of self-worth and to move towards a more independent life.
-  They work in co-operation and a collaborative way with the relevant statutory agencies and with other voluntary organisations.
ST MUNGO’S
Ending homelessness, rebuilding lives.
The causes and consequences of homelessness are complex. St Mungo’s has a range of projects and services to help people become housed, healthier and more hopeful. Their services focus on the different stages of a person’s journey of homelessness or sleeping rough: before, during and after.
St Mungo’s helps prevent people from becoming homeless, supports people who are sleeping on the streets into secure accommodation, and provides them with the services they need to rebuild their lives once they are there.
In 2020-21, their dedicated outreach teams supported 10,267 people and on any given night we provide 3,213 people with housing and support. These services range from outreach, accommodation and floating support services, to skills, employment and care, depending on the local area and the needs of the people there.
CENTRE POINT
Gives homeless young people a future.
Centrepoint provides housing and support for young people regionally in London, Manchester, Yorkshire and the North East and through partnerships all over the UK. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment.
They help more than 10,000 homeless young people each year and they aim to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Centrepoint runs a partnering scheme that pulls together a national network of organisations that support homeless young people. By doing this they are able to help young people with accommodation, health, learning, policy and research, engagement and moving on. Together with their partners, they’re able to support over 14,000 young people a year.
Dean Park House could be a really good building for an operation like any of the businesses above. Helping young people get back into society. The building has facilities for all types of people and it accommodates multiple life stages. If the youths need a space to do school work there is lots of seating throughout the building and if they need access to the internet there is a computer room giving them direct access to multiple outlooks.
